The African Univer-sity of Science and Technology signed an MOU with the Directorate of Technical Coop-eration in Africa (DTCA) on the 16th day of May 2012. DTCA was established in rec-ognition of the fact that Techni-cal cooperation is a vital instru-ment for achieving regional economic integration in a rap-idly globalizing world. There-fore one of the core objectives of DTCA is basically to pro-mote technical cooperation in Africa by providing technical assistance to needy African countries.
The objective of the MOU is to foster the development of and inte-gration in Africa through facilitating Scientific and technological advance-ments within the African continent. In his opening remarks, the Acting Direc-tor general, Mr. Shuaibu Suleiman noted that the MOU signed is a great platform geared towards fostering greater partnership between both in-stitutions. The President and Provost of AUST, Prof. Wole Soboyejo, added that through the sustained collabora-tion of DTCA, a good number of Mala-wian and Sierra Leonian students have been admitted to the AUST. He added that there are great prospects in the AUST-DTCA collaboration.
